General Notes
According to Die Groot Afrikaanse Familienaamboek by C. Pama, Cornelis van Rooijen (later van Rooyen) arrived at the Cape from Gorinchem (Netherlands) in 1713.
He married Jacomintjie van Deventer (d.o. Gerrit Janz and Ariaantje Jacobs) in Drakenstein in on 27 October 1720.
His second wife, whom he married on 13 April 1738 in Drakenstein, was Cornelia Botha (widow of Jan Jurgen Potgieter), d.o. Frederich Both (progenitor of the Bothas in South Africa) and Maria Kickers.
Cornelis' third wife was Barbara Myburgh (widow of Izaak van Es), whom he married in Swellendam on 12 May 1754.
