Phillip de Villiers Barnes 
Phillip was born in 1873 in Pietermaritzburg. Phillip's father was James Barnes and his mother was Aletta Johanna Richter (Philippina). His paternal grandparents were William Barnes and Elizabeth; his maternal grandparents were Michiel Caparus Richter (Eksteen) and Maria Margaretha de Villiers (Aletta). He had three brothers and four sisters, named James, Charles, Frances, Amy, Ethyl, Dorothy and Edith. He died at the age of 78 on December 31st, 1951.General Notes
