Peter (Pieter) Schalk Martens

Peter, known as Pieter, was born on July 11th, 1908 and his baptism took place on October 27th, 1908. Pieter's father was Jan Thomas Martens and his mother was Heila Magdalena Elizabetta Botha. His paternal grandparents were Jacobus Cornelis Martens and Margaretha Susanna Cloete; his maternal grandparents were Gert Cornelis Botha and Heila Magdalena Grobbelaar. He had three brothers named Jacobus, Gert and Jan. He was the youngest of the four children. He died from a heart attack at the age of 70 on March 27th, 1979 in Pietermaritzburg. He was buried in Pietermaritzburg.
