Hester Maria Pretorius 
Hester was born in 1853 and her baptism took place on January 10th, 1870 in Hopetown. Hester's father was Robert Albertus Pretorius and her mother was Hester Magdalena Maartens. Her paternal grandparents were Mattheus Adriaan Pretorius and Margaretha Wilhelmina Carr. She had four brothers and seven sisters, named Mattheus, Hendrik, Robert, Wynand, Anna, Margaretha, Hester, Christina, Gertruida, Lotje and Gerharda.
