Nicolaas, known as Nico, was born on March 28th, 1921 in "Rietvlei", Swartruggens.  Nico's father was Adriaan Albertus Richter and his mother was Judith Catharina Marais.  His paternal grandparents were Nicolaas Jacobus Richter and Johanna Magdalena de Beer; his maternal grandparents were Jacobus Johannes Marais and Wilhelmina Jacoba van Zyl.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 57 on March 26th, 1979 in Pretoria, Alphen park.  He was buried in Pretoria East Cemetary.
