David Cornelius Smith

David was born on November 3rd, 1816.  David's father was Johannes Hendrick Smith and his mother was Neeltje Christina van der Merwe. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Johannes, Neeltjie, Catrina, Elizabeth, Anna and Johanna.  He was the oldest of the seven children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Willem and Aletta.
