Neeltje was born on January 2nd, 1891. Neeltje's father was Frans Christian Vorster and her mother was Jacomina Hendrina Smith. Her paternal grandparents were Frans Christiaan Vorster and Aletta Maria Klopper. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Frans, Johannes, Stephanus, Alida, Jacomina and Elizabeth. She was the third oldest of the seven children.-
