Martha Sophia van der Merwe 
Martha was born about 1793 and her baptism took place on October 6th, 1793 in Graaff Reinet. Martha's father was Isaac van der Merwe and her mother was Elsie Johanna van Heerden. Her paternal grandparents were David Schalk van der Merwe and Anna Maria Pretorius; her maternal grandparents were Roelof van Heerden and Martha Sophia Pretorius. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Dawid, Isaac, Willem, Roelof, Isaac, Anna, Elsie, Maartje and Anna. She was the oldest of the ten children.-
