Anna was born about 1771. Anna's father was Johannes (Jan) Jacobus Coetzee and her mother was Johanna A Cloete. Her paternal grandparents were Johannes (Jan) Coutie/Coetzee and Anna Elizabeth Paal; her maternal grandparents were Gerrit Cloete and Huibrecht Slabbert. She had five brothers and six sisters, named Gerrit, Hans, Dirk, Maartin, Abraham, Anna, Huibregje, Margretha, Maria, Francina and Johanna. She was the fifth youngest of the twelve children.-
