Gerhardus (Gert) Jacobus Maartens (Gerhardus Jacobus) 
Gerhardus, known as Gert, was born on July 2nd, 1910. Gert's father was Paulus Jacobus Maartens and his mother was Margaretha Susara van Schalkwyk. His paternal grandparents were David Schalk Maartens and Susanna Maria Fourie. He had a brother and a sister, named Jacobus and Leona. He was the oldest of the three children. He had four half-brothers and five half-sisters, named David, Pieter, Paulus, Johannes, Anna, Susanna, Catharina, Martha and Johanna. He died at the age of 49 on October 15th, 1959 in "Roemryk", Reddersburg dist..Death Notes
