Pieter Jacobus Maartens 
Pieter was born about 1892 and his baptism took place on February 5th, 1893 in Bloemfontein. Pieter's father was Paulus Jacobus Maartens and his mother was Catharina Sophia Elizabeth Haasbroek. His paternal grandparents were David Schalk Maartens and Susanna Maria Fourie; his maternal grandparents were Pieter Jacobus Haasbroek and Anna Adriana Eloff (Sophia). He had three brothers and five sisters, named David, Paulus, Johannes, Anna, Susanna, Catharina, Martha and Johanna. He was the second oldest of the nine children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Gert, Jacobus and Leona. He died about 1899.General Notes
