Hester Maria Maartens 
Hester was born about February 1889. Hester's father was Matthys Daniel Jacobus Maartens and her mother was Hester Maria Elizabeth van Heerden. Her paternal grandparents were Matthys Daniel Martens and Johanna Barendina Roode; her maternal grandparents were Isaac Benjamin van Heerden and Hester Maria Elizabeth van Heerden. She had four brothers and a sister, named Izak, Willem, Hennie, Japie and Johanna. She was the oldest of the six children. She died from a stroke, Cerebral haemorrage, on July 13th, 1941 in Sterkstroom. She was buried in Sterkstroom.1 General Notes
