Jacobus Johannes Maartens

Jacobus was born about 1753 in Cape Town and his baptism took place on December 9th, 1753.  Jacobus' father was Anthonie Maartens and his mother was Catharina Martha Beck.  His paternal grandparents were Anthony or Anton  Maartens and Hermina  Herwig; his maternal grandparents were Johannes Zacharias Beck and Elsje van As. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Anthonie, Johannes, Hermina, Catharina and Magdalena.  He was the second youngest of the six children.
