Magdalena Wilhelmina Maartens

Magdalena was born about 1755 in Cape Town and her baptism took place there on January 19th, 1755.  Magdalena's father was Anthonie Maartens and her mother was Catharina Martha Beck.  Her paternal grandparents were Anthony or Anton  Maartens and Hermina  Herwig; her maternal grandparents were Johannes Zacharias Beck and Elsje van As. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Anthonie, Johannes, Jacobus, Hermina and Catharina.  She was the youngest of the six children.
