David Edward Malan

David was born on December 29th, 1923 in Cedarville and his baptism took place on January 20th, 1924 in Cedarville NG, Cape.  David's father was Zacharia Rudolf Malan (Stephanus) and his mother was Cecilia Johanna Smith.  His maternal grandparents were Hendrik Stephanus Smith and Elsie Susanna de Wet. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Hendrik, Rudolf , Emmanuel, Elsie and Petronella.  He was the oldest of the six children.
