Francois Martens 
Francois was born on August 11th, 1954 in Pietermaritzburg. Francois 's father was Alvan (Scotty) Erich Martens and his mother was Maria Gertruida Hamman. His paternal grandparents were Joshua Lourens Francois Martens and Jacomina (Ouma Jakkie) Aletta van Rooyen. He has a sister named Riette. He is the younger of the two children.General Notes
Good swimmer. Studied in BFN. got Springbok colours for swimming. Studied at UOVS and received MSc in Geology.
Also an avid claypigeon shottist. Extract from mail sent to me:
"Ek (Geb 11 Aug 1954) en my suster (Riette Martens Hugo, Geb 7 April 1948) is in Pietermartzburg gebore en ons pa was "Scotty" (Alvan Erich Martens geb 10 Junie 1911). My ma was n nooi Hamann van Noord Transvaal. My oupa was Joshua Lourens Francois Martens en het op die plaas Broedershoek buite Greytown in KZN geboer. Hy is een van die direkte afstammelinge van Jan Thomas Martens & Seun van dieselfde naam, wat in die slag van Bloedrivier (aan die blankes se kant !!!) geveg het. Hentie Martens wat Springbok rugby gespeel het se Oupa Fanie was my Pa se Neef en vir wie hy baie lief was.
Ek was self op 16 jarige ouderdom n Springbok swemmer in Natal en ook later Internationaal kleiduif geskiet. Ek is n geoloog van beroep en vlieg na verskeie wereld dele vir my werk. Ek bly in die Vrystaat naby Frankfort waar ek met beeste boer.
