Gert Lucas Martens 
Gert was born on September 4th, 1888 and his baptism took place on October 7th, 1888. Gert's father was Hendrik Jacobus van der Merwe Martens and his mother was Anna Maria Isabella Martens. His paternal grandparents were Hendrik Jacobus Martens and Elizabeth Maria Roos. He had a brother and a sister, named Dewald and Maria. He was the youngest of the three children. He died at the age of 1 on January 24th, 1890. He was buried in Sophiadale.-
