  Die stam waarvan ons Martens familie gekom het was aan my oor vertel deur Tant Sannie (Suzanna Elisabeth van Rooyen geb Martens) Sy was alreeds amper blind en ek was ‘n baie jong 27 0f 28 meisie.  Tant Sannie en Oom Neels het ‘n winkel gehad had in Ulundie en toe hulle aftree  het hulle die winkel aan Theo Killan nie sy van nie maar hy was getroud met Sonja die dogter van Tant Corrie (Cornelia Christiana Martens) Corrie was die oudste van die Martens kinders, Tant Katie Eindlik Katrina Elizabeth Rabe geb Martens, Oom Roelfie(Roedolf Martenhet met Tant Lilla( Elizabeth van Heerden) getrou, Tant Sannie en toe my man se pa Hennie(Hendrik Jacobus Martens).  What I omitted to tell you is that when I married Jacobus Johsia Francois Martens, all the Aunts came from Vryheid.  It was 1964 and Oom Roelfie was deceased already having been hit byatruck in the night.I have several photos with names on the back but no dates and unfortunately as you and Rod have discussed names like Tant Nollie.  I will scan get my grandson to scan in as I was on Vista and have just bought windows 7 which my grandson runs quite astutely, lazy in my old age!  Hennie was married Daphne Alice Baur, it was her second marriage she was born Beland. Their issue were Denise Renelsa Heinrich nee Martens born 19th June 1942- next was Jacobus Cornelius Martens, named after his grandfather, born 7th June 1943- Joseph Beland Martens(named after Daphne’s father believed to be in England) born 29th May 1944 last was my husband Jacobus Johsia Francois named after his great grandfather. born 11th June 1945 and fatally injured in a mine accident died April 1998. I had five children, who all had one name only as their father had to drag those three names along on short lines; so Cathrine was born 23rd January 1965 and died October 2010.  She had two children Monique and Jan Hendrik Branken, I am now their guardian as well as their grandmother lol. (Laugh out loud) bbm talk, ask your grandchildren lol lol. Noeline was born on the 19th December 1965; she married Wayne George Cooke, Lisa (Elizabeth de Jager) nee Martens was born on 15th September 1968. She had to be named after her great grandmother as she was born on the 15th of September year?? Great grandma was Elizabet Katrina Steenkamp who was married to Oupa JC Martens. As there already was a Cathrine we just used the Elizabeth. after that my Youngest daughter Suzanne was born on the 17th February 1971, lastly my son Francois(Frank) Martens was born on 8th March 1974 he is Married to Melissa Baur Moinahan and resides in Houstan Texas.  My first two children were born in Springs Tvl. The last 3 were born in Evander, near Secunda.  I was Married in Springs. Francois had his mine accident in Springs and lived for 18 months and died in Johannesburg in 1998.
  I have watched the Rugby like a good girl Argentina versus SA and WP versus Cheetahs, so at this late hour I bid you good night.

  I have just looked in my memory book and see that Aunt Corrie was born on 20.07.1904 and died on 09.09.1983 Buried at Vryheid out of Die Groote Kerk. I was born on 02.02.1946.  I must say I am glad I don’t drink otherwise I would remember nothing.
