Anna was born on October 24th, 1840. Anna's father was Gerhardus Cornelius Scheepers and her mother was Anna Margaretha Botha. Her paternal grandfather was Gerhardus Cornelius Scheepers and her paternal grandmother is Anna Christina Steyn; her maternal grandparents were Hermanus Botha and Martha Carolina Landman. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Gerhardus, Hermanus, Catharina, Martha and Johanna. She was the second oldest of the six children.-
