Jan was born on August 3rd, 1732 and his christening took place on August 3rd, 1732. Jan 's father was Jacobus van der Berg and his mother was Maria Magdalena Haak . His paternal grandparents were Jacobus VAN DER BERG and Jacomina CARTENIERS. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named Jacobus, Barend, Petrus/Pieter, Johannes, Dirk, Abraham, Daniel, Maria , Johanna , Jacomina and Maria. He was the fourth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 55 in 1787 in Swellendam.General Notes
He bought the house and buildings oin the loan farm Welktevreeden for 233.16 nRijksdaalers from the estate of his father-in-law Gerrit van Emmenes.
