Hester Sophia Henning 
Hester was born on June 9th, 1839. Hester's father was Jan Hendrik Henning and her mother was Hendrina Magdalena van der Merwe. Her maternal grandparents were Hendrik Jacobus van der Merwe and Hester Sophia Maartens. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Jan, Hendrik, Martha, Hendrina and Elsie. She was the oldest of the six children.-
