Her paternal grandparents were Choert Maartens and Hester Maria Olivier; her maternal grandparents were Jacob Cornelius Diamond and Catharina Johanna van Niekerk (Elizabeth). She has three sisters named Hester, Jacoba and Phoebe. She had a half-brother named Choert.-
