Isak van der Merwe Maartens 
Isak was born on July 17th, 1875 and his baptism took place on January 16th, 1876 in Barkley East. Isak's father was Isak van der Merwe Maartens and his mother was Johanna Christina Watkins. His paternal grandparents were Johannes Lodewicus Maartens and Maartje (Maartje) Aletta Hendrina van der Merwe. He had three brothers named Jan, Christiaan and Isak. He was the second oldest of the four children.General Notes
Suggest that the DOB on his baptism may be incorrect and be 1875, rather than 1865 as this precedes his parents' marriage.
