Maria Catharina Maartens 
Maria was born on November 26th, 1849 and her baptism took place on March 24th, 1850 in Bloemfontein. Maria's father was Joachim Hendrik Maartens and her mother was Catharina Susanna Maria Janse van Vuuren. Her paternal grandparents were Joachim Hendrik Maartens and Martha Margaretha Maria Joubert; her maternal grandparents were Petrus Johannes Janse van Vuuren and Maria Catharina Bezuidenhout (Petronella). She had a brother named Joachim. She was the younger of the two children. She had three half-brothers and eight half-sisters, named Jacobus, Francois, David, Maria, Catharina, Hendrina, Jacoba, Martha, Margaretha, Petronella and Johanna. She died at the age of 73 on July 31st, 1923. She was buried in ERMELO, Old cemetery.General Notes
