Gert Lukas Martens 
Gert was born on July 16th, 1890 and his baptism took place on January 4th, 1891. Gert's father was Hendrik Jacobus van der Merwe Martens and his mother was Anna Maria Isabella Martens. His paternal grandparents were Hendrik Jacobus Martens and Elizabeth Maria Roos; his maternal grandparents were Jan Thomas “Tommie” Martens and Anna (Sibella) Catharina Elisabeth Pretorius. He had nine brothers and five sisters, named Hendrik, Jan, Oom Hendrik, Koos, Dewald, Gert, Oom Charles, Pieter, Oom Fanie, Tant Nonnie, Aunt Bappie, Maria, Maria and Talitha. He was the sixth youngest of the fifteen children. He died at the age of 54 on March 3rd, 1945. He was buried in Sophiadale.General Notes

She was from Kroonspruit.
When he married at age 25 he is described on his marriage Certificate as being from Wuthering Heights. Oom Charles (Charles Gustav was a witness at the wedding.)
