Gert Jacobus van der Westhuizen

Gert was born on August 5th, 1887 and his baptism took place on November 14th, 1887 in Weenen, Natal.  Gert's father was Johannes van der Westhuizen and his mother was Anna Jacoba Boshof (Margaretha).  His paternal grandparents were Gerrit Jacobus  van der Westhuizen and Aletta Helena Boshof. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Johannes, Jacobus, Willem, Anna, Aletta, Jacomina and Margaretha.  He was the third oldest of the eight children.
