Jacobus Martens 
Jacobus was born in 1792 in Graaff Reinet and his christening took place there on October 20th, 1792. Jacobus' father was Jacobus Martens and his mother was Maria Magdalena Joubert. His paternal grandparents were Joachim Heinrich Martens and Jacomina van den Berg; his maternal grandparents were Josua Joachim Joubert and Maria Magdalena van der Berg. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Jozua, Jacobus, Jan, Hendrik, Nicolaas, Maria, Jacomina, Anna, Johanna and Anna. He was the second oldest of the eleven children.-
