Maria Magdalena Martens 
Maria was born about 1844 in Pietermaritzburg. Maria's father was Hendrik Jacobus Martens and her mother was Elizabeth Maria Roos. Her paternal grandparents were Jacobus Martens and Maria Magdalena Joubert. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Jacobus, Lang Hendrik, Jan, Susanna, Elizabeth and Wilemina. She was the fourth oldest of the seven children. She died after 1895.-
