Martha Francina Maartens (Martha Sophia) 
Martha was born on April 20th, 1813 in Graaff Reinet and her baptism took place there on September 19th, 1813. Martha's father was Joachim Hendrik Martens and her mother was Hendrina Magdalena van der Merwe. Her paternal grandparents were Joachim Heinrich Martens and Jacomina van den Berg; her maternal grandparents were David Schalk van der Merwe and Anna Maria Pretorius. She had seven brothers and six sisters, named Joachim, Dawid, Paulus, Johannes, Willem, Nicolaas, Daniel, Anna, Jacomina, Hendriena, Hester, Elizabeth and Aletta. She was the youngest of the fourteen children. She died at the age of 91 on October 6th, 1904 in Old Town, Klerksdorp.General Notes
