Jacomina was born about 1792 in Graaff Reinet Dist. and her baptism took place on July 10th, 1792 in Graaff Reinet. Jacomina's father was Joachim Hendrik Martens and her mother was Hendrina Magdalena van der Merwe. Her paternal grandparents were Joachim Heinrich Martens and Jacomina van den Berg; her maternal grandparents were David Schalk van der Merwe and Anna Maria Pretorius. She had seven brothers and six sisters, named Joachim, Dawid, Paulus, Johannes, Willem, Nicolaas, Daniel, Anna, Hendriena, Hester, Elizabeth, Aletta and Martha. She was the third oldest of the fourteen children. She died on January 19th, 1866 in Sterkfontein, Middelburg dist..Death Notes
