Johan George Martens (Johannes)

Johan was born on March 27th, 1884 and his baptism took place on February 12th, 1888 in Rouxville.  Johan's father was Gert Lukas Martens and his mother was Cornelia  Johanna Swanepoel (Philippina).  His maternal grandparents were Philippus Johannes Swanepoel (Cornelius) and Cornelia Johanna Gouws. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Hendrick, Philippus, Hendrik, Gert, Charles , Thomas , Cornelia and Elizabeth.  He was the second youngest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 80 on September 1st, 1964.  He was buried in North West, SWARTRUGGENS, Old cemetery.
