Sien ook: Irish Settlers to the Cape: History of the Clanwilliam 1820 Settlers from Cork Harbour deur Graham Brian Dickason (1973; AA Balkema; Kaapstad).
Hy bepaal ook verder dat after paying all my lawful debts and funeral expenses, I bequeath unto Gertrude Elizabeth & John Christian Fowler born of Gertrude Lampbreghts all the property which I may be possessed of in South Africa at my death as well as the sum of £100 to be drawn from my property in Ireland.

Captained by Abraham Zwart the Kasteel van Tilburg departed from Texel on the 2nd of May 1747 with 254 souls onboard [129 seafarers, 115 soldiers, 2 craftsmen and 8 passengers].  In the holds would have been up to 7 tons of gold, silver and ingots for trading, as well as fresh water and food supplies for the journey.

What we know is that our patriarch Joachem Heinrich Martens is that he came to the Cape with the VOC in 1747 and died about 1774. On his marriage certificate he is described as Jochem Hendrik Martens and his papers from the VOC has him as Jochem Heinrich Martens. His second son was Joachim Hendrik Martens so that the Joachem was probably the original name.

His origin on his marriage certificate is given as "uijt het Oldemark , Brandenburg , Matsdorp",

My interpretation was;
Name; changed to suit Cape community.
Origin;
Brandenburg (as is)
Oldenmark I interpreted as "Altmark"
Matsdorp I interpreted as "Messdorf"

If you look at; https://translate.google.co.za/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.stadt-bismark.de/de/meszdorf.html&prev=search

It all seems to come together.
The area described on the website does seem to be Saxony-Anhalt

Then I found a source at Familysearch that provides me with the following details on a Joachem Heinrich Martens.
Birth;  1 Jan 1727 - Meßdorf, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany
Death; 2 Feb 1774 - Cape Town, South Africa
Parents; Christoffer Hinrich Martens b. 1886 married to Mrs Christoffer Hinrich Martens b. 1886

The church in Meßdof seems to date to the 12th century and has not been destroyed in the war.

Unmarried.
1848 - 1919 Hendrik Jacobus van der Merwe Martens 71 71 He farmed on Wuthering Heights as some of his children came from there at time of marriage.
According to his DN he was living at Sophiadale at the time of his death. When he died the following children had already died;
Jan Thomas
Jacobus
Dewald Johannes
Gert Lucas signed his DN.
According to the Will the following;
Charles Gustav gets Whiterock, 3000acres
Jacobus Martens gets 2600 acres of Raw and Greehams Land, name unknown.
Gert Lucas gets Welverdient,
Paul Petrus and Stephanus Johannes equally gets Vlakvarklaaget and Sophiadale.
Then there was a trus fund set up and the children gall got one eighth shares.
NOW; Zondana, 2123 acres and Toggekry, 600 acres to make up Wuthering Heights.
The other farms mentioned are Onrust (part of Welverdient)  and Heartsease in Weenen county, as well as Krantzkloof (rented). Also Malingane which was a portion of Wuthering Heights.

What was disconcerting is that in the execution of the will half of Wuthering Heights and Togekry was to go to "Dewald Johannes Van der Merwe Martens, son of Dewald Johannes Martens minor (deceased son of the late H.J.Martens)".

Two strains of Spanish Flu hit SA in Sep 1918. The less virulent strain entered via Durban and spread rapidly to the Witwatersrand whist the second and more virulent strain entered Cape Town from Freetown, Sierra Leone on 13 Sep 1918. It spread quickly on two axes causing many deaths. Estimates range from 140000 -300000 dead in SA alone, whilst it is estimated that one billion people or half the world’s population was infected.

Before moving to its present location in 1932, it was located at Tokai, Cape Town.
Built on a rise between the Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean, the college commands sweeping views of fynbos-covered mountains and indigenous high forest. Between 1932 and 1985, it trained about 1300 foresters who were subsequently employed by the State and private companies such as Mondi and Sappi.
During the 1800s development in the Cape Colony led to an increased demand for structural and furniture timber. This led to an unhealthy strain on the indigenous forests of the Southern Cape, which had been exploited since the days of Jan van Riebeeck. Farsighted planning obviously called for the establishment of plantations of fast-growing exotic trees and the necessary trained foresters to manage them. To meet this need, the South African College Schools (SACS) started a course for forest rangers in 1902, but was superseded by the Tokai School for Forest Apprentices in 1912. At that stage forestry fell under the Department of Agriculture and was more conservation-oriented than concerned with afforestation; consequently the output of foresters was very small at that time. With the rapid growth of the timber industry, it was decided to relocate Saasveld to its present position on the farm Pampoenkraal, due to its proximity to indigenous forest, open areas suitable for plantations of exotics, sawmills in the vicinity and drying kilns in George. Many explorers, naturalists and botanists such as Thunberg, Sparrman, Le Vaillant, Drège, Ecklon and Zeyher had visited the farm in the preceding two centuries. In 1854 the farm was subdivided and the portion on which the college would eventually be built, was bought by the baroness Gesina van Rede van Oudtshoorn, and named Saasveld after her ancestral castle in Overyssel in Holland. In 1867 Thomas Bain, the famous road-maker, had surveyed the main road heading east to Knysna and passing through Pampoenkraal. In those days a toll gate was sited near the present entrance to Saasveld. In 1917 Saasveld was bought by the George Forest Timber Co., and later acquired by Searles Limited. In 1928 ownership of the land finally passed to the State and work started on construction of the College.
